Leadership is not always an easy job. A leader is responsible for how the overall team functions as several people look to a leader for guidance and confirmation. Leaders fail when they don’t realize the needs of their team members. Not only does the project suffer, but the respectability of a leader also plummets if they are not fulfilling their role of leadership through means of holding others accountable. Leaders are much more intimate than bosses as they perform with the considerations of others. In a business dynamic, the leader is a part of the group and is just as necessary as everyone else. Many great leaders have a unifying quality about them which is the trait that helps them be to be successful. Just as any human, a leader is not an exception to failure. Leaders Become Selfish

Leaders can fail because they become selfish and want all the credit for a project. This makes them more noticeable which can be used to receive different benefits or notoriety. These kinds of leaders forget that the overall objective requires teamwork. Instead, one’s own success is the main priority. A selfish leader can also be bitter when it comes to helping teammates who may need assistance as they might see this as an inconvenience to them.

Leaders Become Prideful

Pride itself is a great thing to have and is interrelated to one’s self-esteem. However, a leader’s overwhelming amount of pride can turn into arrogance where they feel as though it is impossible for them to be wrong. This can lead to a leader being intellectually dishonest in work matters. If management questions them, they may shift the blame onto someone else so that their reputation stays intact. Leaders can fail by trying to portray a perfect self-image while their performance contradicts.

Leaders Refuse to Adapt

One part of being a great leader is being able to accept that they can learn from other team members. Leaders must know how to evolve and also take direction from others as well. A refusal to adapt leadership styles or varying viewpoints can make a leader fail. It can place limitations on a business’s progress as well as employees’ growth.
